Entrevista especial: Mikey Deleasa!

Oi gente! As ferias estão finalmente aqui! Como vocês sabem, sempre que possível nós tentamos trazer entrevistas especiais com artistas que nós gostamos e admiramos, que gostaríamos de divulgar pelo mundo, assim como fizemos com a Lu e dessa vez não foi diferente, quando tivemos a honra de entrevistar Michael Deleasa, sim ele, é irmão da Danielle, mas a música dele mostra que ele também é muito mais do que isso, e nós do blog adoramos o CD que ele acabou de lançar no Itunes, ...Because I Can, e gostaríamos que vocês dessem uma olhada: http://tinyurl.com/2fz53zn.

Blog JNB: Oi Michael! Como você está? Primeiro de tudo, eu gostaria de agradecê-lo por aceitar fazer a entrevista. Agora, apenas nos diga, como você se sente tendo um CD lançado? E qual sua música favorita nele?

Michael: Eu preciso dizer que eu me sinto muito bem, a parte mais difícil desse CD foi achar tempo para terminá-lo entre tudo mais que está acontecendo na minha vida. Eu comecei a gravar em Abril de 2009 e levou um ano todo para terminar as gravações, então foi um alivio ter finalmente lançado. Em relação a minha música favorite, é a primeira música no EP apenas porque foi um jeito de dizer a minha família e meus amigos o quanto eu amo eles.

Blog JNB: O nome do CD (… Because I Can) (…Porque eu posso) tem alguma coisa a ver com o fato que você pode ter a oportunidade de lançar um CD?

Michael: Não, não muito, na verdade, qualquer um pode lançar um CD mesmo se é uma pessoa gritando em um microfone haha, mas eu nomeei de Because I Can, pela razão que eu sinto que a vibe e o estilo do CD está em todos os locais, então quando as pessoas perguntam ‘porque você faz 50 estilos diferentes no seu CD”, eu posso simplesmente responder, porque eu posso (Because I Can) haha.

Blog JNB: Como você definiria seu estilo de música?

Michael: Agora eu descreveria como alguém tentando achar seu som, mas quanto mais eu tocar e escrever, eu espero achar meu estilo.

Blog JNB: Quem são suas maiores influência e/ou ídolos no seu processo de composição e na sua música?

Michael: Uh essa é difícil, eu gusto de um monte de músicas, eu adoro John Mayer e Jason Mraz e depois as do Al Green e Michael Buble que estão na parte de cima da minha lista. Eu não tenho ninguém como ídolo porque eu prefiro mais seu eu mesmo e puxar das minhas influências.

Blog JNB: Eu me lembro que você foi a banda de abertura antes de Diane Birch no show de Nick Jonas & The Administration em Janeiro, nos diga como foi essa experiênca.

Michael: Bem, a comida servida foi um bonus haha mas apenas o fato que eu toquei no mesmo palco que Steely Dan tocou assim como John Mayer foi um pouco demais para lidar. Também, tocar com o novo membro da família, Nick, foi incrível e ter o resto da família me vendo tocar no Beacon, tendo vindo de bares foi empolgante. Sem necessidade de dizer que eu estava um pouco nervoso.

Blog JNB: De volta aos seus anos de adolescência, quando você começou levar a música a sério? E qual foi o primeiro instrumento que você tocou? Quais você toca?

Michael: Bem, eu quero dizer que a faculdade foi quando eu comecei a levar minha música a sério, mas agora estando na Califórnia trabalhando com os caras no Backhouse, eu diria que agora eu estou levando isso a sério haha. De primeira, eu queria aprender a bateria, mas meus pais fizeram um acordo que se eu aprendesse violão/guitarra eu poderia aprender bateria, mas a segunda parte nunca aconteceu para manter a paz na minha casa haha. Meus principais instrumentos são meu violão/guitarra e minha voz, mas eu dou uma enrolada com o piano, baixo e bateria.

Blog JNB: Eu conheço muitas pessoas que também querem ser músicos. Você tem algum conselho?

Michael: Você só é bom até onde você permite você mesmo ser, então pratique, pratique e pratique.

Blog JNB: Quando foi a primeira vez que você esteve em um palco? Você teve algum momento engraçado em um palco ou ensaios?

Michael: Eu tinha um ano de idade e fui o bebê Jesus na peça da Igreja… Acho que isso responde as duas partes haha.

Blog JNB: Você planeja fazer twitcams, ou ustream algum dia para manter contato com seus fãs, ou você acha que o twitter é a melhor maneira de fazer isso?

Michael: Eu gostaria de saber o que essas duas coisas são haha. Se os fãs querem mais livechats, eu adoraria fazer isso, eu só tenho que descobrir como haha.

Blog JNB: Apenas uma pergunta aleatória, mas todos estão falando disso. Você vai ver Toy Story 3, ou já viu?

Michael: Eu acho que eu gostaria de ver, enquanto o Tom Hanks ainda seja o Woody.

Blog JNB: E em relação a Copa do Mundo, o que você acha do time dos EUA? E você viu algum dos jogos do meu país, Brasil? Se sim, nos diga o que acha do nosso país também.

Michael: Bom, eu tenho estado por aí na Califórnia me consumindo de música então eu não tenho assistido nada na TV com excessão de Breaking Bad haha, eu perdi até a copa Stanley.

(Breaking Bad é uma série de TV e copa Stanley é de hockey no gelo.)

Blog JNB: Bem, nossos leitores iriam me matar se eu não perguntasse isso, apenas uma pergunta rápida e eu prometo que é a única pessoal. Como é ter Kevin Jonas como cunhado?

Michael: Não é diferente do que ter Brian Gonsar como meu cunhado, ele passou no teste de fazer minha irmã feliz sendo um ótimo cara então isso é tudo que eu me importo.

Blog JNB: Você quer mandar alguma mensagem para seus fãs brasileiros?

Michael: Muito obrigado a todos que vem mostrando seu apoio e eu espero ser sortudo o bastante para poder dividir uma noite de música com você garotos e garotas.

Blog JNB: Hey Michael! How are you? First of all, I would like to thank you for accepting doing this interview. Now just tell us, how do you feel having an album released? And what’s your favorite song of the album?

Michael: I must say that it feels pretty good, the hardest part of this album was finding the time to get it done between everything else that’s been going on in my life. I started recording in April 2009 and it took a full year to finish the tracking so it was a relief to finally have it released. As for my favorite song, it has to be the first song on the EP just because it was a way to tell my family and friends how much I love them.

Blog JNB: Has the name of the album (…Because I Can) anything to do with fact you could have the opportunity of releasing an album?

Michael: No not really, realistically anyone can release a CD even if it’s them yelling into a mic haha, but I titled it Because I Can, for the reason that I feel the vibe and style of the cd is all over the place so when people ask "why did you do 50 different styles on your cd?" I can simply respond Because I Can haha.

Blog JNB: How would you define your style of music?

Michael: Right now I would describe it as someone trying to find their sound, but the more I play and write I hope to find my style.

Blog JNB: Who are the biggest influences and/or idols in your songwriting process and in your music?

Michael: Oh that’s a tough one, I dig a lot of music I love John Mayer and Jason Mraz and then theirs Al Green and Michael Buble who are up there to on my list. I don't really idolize anyone because I much rather just be me and pull from my influences.

Blog JNB: I remember you were the opening act before Diane Birch in the Nick Jonas & The Administration concert back in January; tell us how was that experience.

Michael: Well the catered food was a plus haha. But just the fact that I got to play the same stage that Steely Dan has played on as well as John Mayer was just a little too much to handle. Also playing with new found family member Nick was awesome and having the rest of the family see me go from playing dive bars to the Beacon was exciting. Needless to say I was a bit nervous.

Blog JNB: Back to your earlier teenager years, when did you start taking music seriously? And what was the first instrument you ever played? How many of them do you play?

Michael: Well I wanna say college is when I started taking my playing serious but now being out in California working with the guys at the backhouse I'd say now I'm starting to take it serious haha. At first I wanted to learn drums but my parents made the deal that if I take guitar I could learn drums but the second part never happened to keep the peace in my house haha. My main instruments are guitar and my voice, but I do mess around with piano, bass and drums.

Blog JNB: I know a lot of people who wants to be musicians as well. Do you have any advice to give?

Michael: You are only as good as you allow yourself to be so just practice practice practice.

Blog JNB: When was the first time you’ve ever been onstage? Did you have any funny moment onstage or at rehearsals?

Michael: I was 1 year old and was baby Jesus in my church play...I think that answers both parts haha.

Blog JNB: Do you plan to make twitcams, or ustream someday to keep in touch with some of your fans, or do you think twitter is the best way to do it?

Michael: I’d like to know what those two things are haha if fans want to do more video chats I’d love to do that, I just have to figure out how haha

Blog JNB: Just a random question, but everyone is talking about it. Are you going to see Toy Story 3, or did you saw already?

Michael: I think I’d like to check it out as long as Tom Hanks is still Woody.

Blog JNB: And what about the World Cup, what do you think about the US team? And did you watch any of the games of my country, Brazil? If so, tell us what you think about our team as well.

Michael: Well I've been out in California for the last month consuming myself with music so I have not been watching any tv except Breaking Bad haha I even missed the Stanley cup!

(Breaking Bad is a TV show. And Stanley Cup is an Ice-Hockey competition.)

Blog JNB: Well, our readers would kill me if didn’t ask this, just a quick question and I promise this will be the only one personal. How is having Kevin Jonas as your brother in law?

Michael: No different than having Brian Gonsar being my brother in law, he passed the test of making my sister happy by being great guy so that's all I ever care about.

Michael: Thank you so much to anyone who has been showing their support and I only hope to be lucky enough to make it out to you guys and gals to share a night of music with.
